Your Ultimate Lingerie Guide: Tips, Trends, and Sizing Advice | UCALingerie

At UCA Lingerie, we believe that intimate wear should celebrate the female body while supporting women’s health. That’s why we’re committed to creating sustainable, comfortable lingerie and raising awareness about breast cancer prevention.

Whether it’s our influencers sharing their self-care rituals on social media or our curated Pink for U collection, we’re talking about breast cancer all year long because it matters.

We believe breast cancer prevention is something every woman can do, and we want to provide the knowledge to help them do it. Here are some of the ways you can take control of your breast health.

Lower your risk

According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 women in America will be diagnosed with breast cancer. What are you doing to lower your risk? Here are some ways to stay healthy and reduce your risk of breast cancer.

Stay Active and Maintain a Healthy Weight

A healthy body lowers the risk of developing breast cancer, and weight is a big factor. However, a healthy weight isn’t just what you see on the scale. It also considers BMI, waist circumference, and body fat percentage. In general, guidelines suggest a BMI less than 25 (but greater than 18), a waist smaller than 35 inches, and less than 33% body fat, but talk with a doctor about finding your healthiest range.

You’ll also need to stay active, but that doesn’t have to mean athlete status. Build your perfect blend of cardio, strength, and flexibility with everyday activities like brisk walking, stair climbing, stretching, and swimming. A few minutes a day go a long way.

Cut Back on Risky Habits

Enjoy life’s indulgences in moderation; however, limiting alcohol and avoiding tobacco are some of the most powerful steps you can take for your breast health. Regular alcohol use increases your risk, as does exposure to tobacco smoke. In fact, the younger you are when you smoke, the higher your risk of developing breast cancer. Limiting alcohol use as much as possible will lower your risk; however, it is still a carcinogen, which means it can lead to cancer.

Nourish Your Body with a Healthy Diet

A healthy diet can also help lower your risk of breast cancer, especially if it’s high in fiber, antioxidants, and healthy fats. This blend helps lower your risk of breast cancer, supports healthy skin, reduces scarring, and keeps you looking young

However, the Mediterranean diet is the best diet for lowering your risk. Its blend of healthy fats, cruciferous vegetables, fiber, and antioxidants (such as salmon, olive oil, lentils, and leafy greens) helps balance sex hormones and support the reproductive tissues impacted by breast cancer.

Choose Breast-Friendly Support

Alongside lifestyle changes, the way you care for your breasts day to day also matters. Don’t ignore the amount of physical stress placed on breasts. Our breasts should always feel comfortable. That means wearing bras that don’t pinch vital tissues, limiting your body’s ability to flush away toxins, and garments that let your skin breathe.

Make it a habit

Lowering your risk and giving your breasts the support they need are the first steps towards maintaining healthy breasts, but they’re just the start. Here are some other good habits that you should keep.

Self-exams and mammograms

Get familiar with your own body. Monthly self-exams can help you notice size, texture, or lumps changes early. Pair this with regular mammograms as your doctor recommends, since early detection dramatically improves outcomes.

Genetic testing

If you have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer, consider genetic counseling and testing. Learning whether you carry BRCA or other gene mutations can help you take proactive measures and make more informed health choices.

Manage stress

Chronic stress weakens your immune system. Mindful practices like yoga, journaling, or meditation can help reduce stress hormones that affect breast health.

Reduce endocrine disruptors

Limit exposure to chemicals in plastics, cosmetics, and household cleaners that mimic hormones and may affect breast tissue (such as toxic dyes in your lingerie..) Choose glass containers, natural cleaners, and clean-label skincare whenever possible.

Taking care of your breasts is about creating daily habits that protect your health, boost your confidence, and support your body inside and out. From staying active and eating well to choosing breast-friendly support and reducing harmful exposures, every step you take makes a difference.

At UCA Lingerie, we’re proud to stand with women in the fight against breast cancer by combining comfort, sustainability, and awareness in everything we create. Together, we can make breast health a priority, not just in October, but all year long.
